What is that suspicious smell?
It’s the Maned Wolves at Banham Zoo scent marking their territory! Their enclosure is just the otherside of our boundary along Bays 8 & 9.
“Maned wolves – large, South American canids that look like leggy foxes but are neither foxes nor wolves – spray very pungent, distinctive urine that smells like hops or cannabis. This is caused by a chemical in the urine known as pyrazine. This chemical helps the smell last for a long time after the wolf has left the area and acts as a ‘Keep Out’ sign to other maned wolves.” – Sara Goatcher, Head of Conservation Education at Banham Zoo.
Do you have accessible facilities?
We proudly have 4 EHU accessible pitches just a few steps away from our main facilities. We also have accessible showers and toilets.
Is it ok to bring my dog and is there an additional charge?
Dogs are very welcome on the understanding that they will never be left unattended in a parked car, on a pitch, Shepherd’s Cabin or any other area of the Park, and are kept on a lead at all times. Dog mess must be cleared up immediately. Dog bins and bags are provided at regular intervals around the Park.
There is no additional charge if your dog is staying on a pitch. We do offer dog-friendly glamping in our Shepherd’s Cabins for which there is a charge of £20.00 per dog (maximum of two small dogs under 6kg or 1 medium/ large dog).
Please note, dogs are not permitted to stay in our Glamping Pods.
If I have booked an electric pitch, how long does my electric lead need to be?
We would recommend 20 metres. Please note, you must not join cables together as it is not safe.
I have booked a non-electric pitch, where are these pitches located?
Our non- electric pitches (standard & XL) are located in Chestnut Corner or Oak Corner. These pitches are not marked out so feel free to find a suitable spot to pitch. There is a limit of a maximum 12 pitches per ‘Corner’ so there’s plenty of space. Please ensure that a 6m safety gap is still left between pitches even if pitching together.
How large can my Caravan/ Motorhome/ Tent be on an electric pitch?
A maximum of 6m x 6m on a standard pitch, however we do have a number of XL pitches if you require a larger pitch to accommodate something bigger which allows up to 9m x 9m.
Can I bring a gazebo?
Yes – pre-booking is required with a charge of £5.00 per night. Gazebos are permitted on XL pitches only and must be pitched within your allocated pitch area and not the 6m fire safety gap between pitches.
Can I bring a BBQ?
BBQs and covered fire pits are permitted but must be raised off the grass and supervised at all times. They must not be used on either the Pod or Cabin terraces. BBQ ash and fire pit waste is to be disposed of in the metal bins provided when cold.
