This October half term, Applewood Countryside Park is turning delightfully spooky! From leafy lanterns and creepy crafts to torchlight treasure hunts and ghoulish ghost-making, there’s plenty of fun and Halloween mischief for little monsters (and grown-up ghouls too!).


Best of all, our October half term activities are included free with your stay.

    Wednesday 28th October

    3pm-4pm

    CREATE A BOO-TIFUL GHOST PICTURE

    Grab the cotton wool and get crafty! Create your very own fluffy, friendly ghost picture to take home and add a little Halloween spirit to your stay.


    Thursday 29th October

    3pm-4pm

    MAKE A BAT-TASTIC CREATION

    Time to go batty! Make your own spooky hanging bat, ready to take back and add to your Halloween decorations.


    Friday 30th October

    4pm-5pm

    THE WICKED WEB WORKSHOP

    Spin your own spooky masterpiece! Transform a paper plate into a creepy-crawly spider’s web, complete with its very own eight-legged resident.


    Saturday 31st October

    11am-1pm

    THE APPLEWOOD PUMPKIN CARVE OFF

    Ready, steady… carve! Pick your pumpkin, dream up a frightfully good design and bring it to life. Then enter your creation into our Great Pumpkin Carve-Off to see whose masterpiece will be crowned the winner!

    £5 entry per person - pumpkin included

    TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL

    There’s a Halloween mystery hiding in the woods! Follow the trail, hunt down the hidden letters and unscramble the spooky word. Crack the code and there’ll be a tasty treat waiting for you at the finish.

    BEST DRESSED PITCH JUDGING

    Time to show us what you’ve got! Transform your pitch, Glamping Pod or Shepherd’s Cabin into a Halloween masterpiece. Our judges will make their way around the park at 7pm in search of Applewood’s best-dressed setup – with a prize waiting for the winner!


    7.30pm

    FANCY DRESS PARADE & PRIZE GIVING

    Witches, vampires, monsters, pumpkins and everything in between - it’s time to show off your Halloween look! Join our Fancy Dress Parade before we crown our fancy dress and Best Dressed Pitch winners.

EVENT FAQS

  • Is there any cost to take part in the Half Term Haunt activities?

    All the Half Term Haunt activities are included with your stay, with the exception of our Pumpkin Carve-Off, which is £5 per person and includes your pumpkin.

  • Are the craft materials provided?

    Yes! All craft materials are provided, so there’s no need to bring anything along for the craft sessions - just your creativity.

  • Do we need to bring anything with us?

    No - everything will be ready and waiting for you.

  • Do I need to book any of the activities in advance?

    No booking is required, all activities are drop-in. That said, it really helps our team to have an idea of numbers, so if you and your family would like to take part in any of the activities, just let us know when you arrive and check in at Park Reception.

  • Are the activities suitable for all ages?

    Yes! The Half Term Haunt activities are designed to be family-friendly, with a mix of calm, creative and energetic activities suitable for a range of ages.
